| Greetings
from Melbourne Racing Club Chairman, Mr Peter Young
The Melbourne Racing
Club is proud and excited to commence the 2006 Asian
Mile Challenge series with the Futurity Stakes at Classic
Caulfield on Saturday, 4 March.
Having forged alliances
with several of our racing neighbours in recent years,
the expanded Asian Mile Challenge series provides a
wonderful platform on which to further build the Melbourne
Racing Club’s profile on the international stage.
Importantly, the series
complements perfectly the elite racing programme our
Club operates at our premier racing venue – Classic
Caulfield – and is ideally positioned at the conclusion
of Caulfield’s Summer Classics festival of racing.
The recent global
success of local horses such as Choisir, Elvstroem,
Starcraft, Mummify and Alinghi has proved the competitiveness
and quality of Australian racing and opened the door
to new racing frontiers.
The prospect of further
international competition at home and abroad through
the Asian Mile Challenge has been positively welcomed
by Australia’s premier trainers, many of whom
now have the F |
